Genesis of Yowl
While on urban rides, I had many near misses with vehicles, pedestrians, scooters, and even other bikers. But, mostly drivers either didn't see me or were distracted drivers.
I started thinking about how one’s natural reaction is to tighten their grip when encountering a near collision- or worst, putting their head down to look for the trigger of their bike horn. So, why not design a horn that "honks" just by squeezing one's grip?
Any device required moving the hand/finger/thumb that compromised a strong grip on the handlebar is unsafe.
The Yowl Bike Horn is designed to sound the horn with a squeeze of the trigger - located in-line with the handlebar grip. We make them for left or right handlebar. This method allows you to sound the horn in a near-instant while keeping your eyes on the road and both hands firmly on your handlebar. With any collision, a millisecond can make a difference!
